Leading workwear and corporate uniform company, Superior Uniform Group, Inc, on Friday cited a weak economy for a 14 per cent slide in first quarter net sales to $33.6 million from the year-ago period.

The Florida-based company, which makes uniforms, corporate ID and career apparel, said net earnings plunged to $0.4m, or six cents per diluted share versus $1.3m, or 20 cents per diluted share, in 2001, amid one-off charges of $0.5m.
