Men's footwear maker Weyco Group Inc on Wednesday posted a 26.5 per cent hike in fourth-quarter net earnings to $6.8m, from $5.m the year before..

Net sales totalled $55.6 million for the fourth quarter of 2004 versus sales of $54.6m in 2003. The Stacy Adams and Florsheim brands saw 11 and 2 per cent growth respectively, while the Nunn Bush brand posted a 7 per cent sales slump.

Full-year net sales increased 3.4 per cent to $223.0m from sales of $215.8m in 2003, with Stacy Adams and Florsheim seeing 9 per cent and 1 per cent growths respectively. Nunn Bush sales stayed static for the year.

Total retail sales grew 6.4 per cent to $26.5m from $24.9m in 2003, while same-store retail sales increased 8.9 per cent.
  
Tom Florsheim Jr, chief executive officer of Weyco Group Inc, said the company was pleased with its sales increases and that the strength of its Florsheim wholesale business had allowed "a slight increase in wholesale sales for the brand."

He added that the Stacy Adams brand had seen "a record year in dress shoe sales fueled the significant wholesale growth for the brand."
