USA: xdogs.com Sign Exclusive Distribution Agreement With Gaastra Sportswear
Since its foundation in 1897, Gaastra has been recognized for its innovative and durable sailing gear and sailing-inspired apparel. Consumers can choose from a variety of lines for men, women and children which are ideally suited to a wide range of sailing conditions. The Gaastra line of foul weather gear competes with top lines such as Gill, Helly Hansen, Musto and Henri Lloyd. The more casual sportswear line compares favorably with Tommy Hilfiger (NYSE:TOM); Polo Ralph Lauren (NYSE:RL), and Nautica (Nasdaq NM:NAUT).
Gaastra plans to continue creating high quality, innovative apparel well into their second century. "Gaastra has a long tradition and a great heritage dating back to 1897. We now have the tremendous opportunity to introduce the Gaastra brand to the North American marketplace," said Gaastra's President and CEO, Ado Huisman. "We are thrilled to collaborate with the innovative XDOGS team. XDOGS has demonstrated that they have the expertise and resources to ensure a successful launch of Gaastra and we are looking forward to a long and successful partnership."
"Gaastra is an inventive brand with a tradition of excellence," commented Kent Rodriguez, XDOGS CEO and chairman. "Their apparel is as stylish as it is sturdy. The strategic fit between Gaastra and the other brands in the XDOGS line is highly complementary, and we are extremely pleased to be able to add them to our exclusive collection of European outdoor products." XDOGS' other brands include Berghaus of England, Oxbow of France, and Lumen of Austria.
Robert J. Corliss, CEO of The Athlete's Foot Group Inc., and a member of XDOGS' Board of Directors said, "XDOGS is adding another exceptional asset to their 'best-in-class' portfolio of outdoor brands. I am confident that North American consumers will appreciate Gaastra's superior style and quality."
XDOGS' exclusive access to premium outdoor lifestyle brands and innovative approach of offering these products through a combination of on-line and traditional retail channels is unique to the outdoor industry. XDOGS.COM also operates and maintains a dynamic, content-rich website which supports a community of outdoor adventurers and enthusiasts.
Gaastra (www.gaastra-sportswear.com) was founded in 1897 by the Dutch sail maker Douwe Gaastra. His sails soon became well known and the Gaastra logo (featuring the landmark sea gate of his hometown of Sneek in the Netherlands) became synonymous with quality and innovation. Today, Gaastra has a variety of sailing and sportswear lines for men, women and children. Their apparel is made with only the highest quality materials, and built to withstand the rigors of open-water sailing. As Gaastra moves into its second century, it plans to become "The Watermark" by which all outerwear is measured.
