TURKEY: Yesim Tekstil expands into Japan

By | 17 April 2012

Yesim Tekstil, one of Turkey's largest clothing and textile manufacturers, has expanded its customer base to Japan through a new supply deal with retail giant Aeon.

The company took part in a Turkish Week in Japan earlier this month. Organized by Aeon, Japan's largest retailer with 391 stores, hypermarkets and supermarkets, the event was intended to introduce the Turkish market and its products to Japanese consumers.

Yesim CEO Senol Sankaya noted the importance of the Japanese market for Turkish exporters, especially following the ongoing economic crisis in Europe.

Aeon, he added, "has a particular demand for environmentally-friendly and organic products, viewing Turkey as an alternative market for top-quality environmentally-friendly products with high added value.

Yesim Tekstil is Aeon's largest supplier of apparel in Turkey. "Our goal is to increase exports to Aeon," Sankaya said.

Sectors: Apparel, Fibres & fabrics, Manufacturing, Retail, Sourcing
