USA: Zweave, OptiTex Partner On 3D PLM Solutions

Software providers Zweave and OptiTex have signed a deal to develop, deliver and support 3D collaborative product lifecycle management solutions for the apparel industry.

Under the agreement the two companies will jointly promote their combined services and solutions, which include Zweave's Collaborative Product Lifecycle Management (CPLM) capabilities and OptiTex's 3D Design and 2D CAD tools.

"Commercial market trends indicate that consumers today expect better fitting products, sizing systems that address niche market needs, and the increasing changes in the sizes of global populations," said David Buck, CEO of Zweave.

" Product development organisations are beginning to integrate 3D Anthropometric data from sizing surveys into their product requirements. However, to date, the apparel industry has struggled to manage 2D data.

"What the industry needs is apparel specific 3D CAD and PLM solutions and best practices."

The new offer should enable apparel designers and manufacturers to maximise product development efficiencies and create anthropometric virtual models, patterns and fit workspaces.
