Gant selects PLM to improve speed and product-hit rates

Lifestyle brand Gant has invested in a new product lifecycle management (PLM) solution to help improve product-hit rates, shorten lead times, and enhance margins.

The company has selected the Centric 8 PLM system from Centric Software to support its growth and improve information sharing and collaboration with a new digital approach. 

Gant, established in 1949 in Connecticut, is renowned for its preppy East Coast style. The company is now headquartered in Sweden and has a presence in 70 countries. In its last fiscal year, Gant recorded revenues of $1.3bn.

Gant plans to use Centric 8 to improve communication across its sub-brands: Gant Rugger, Gant Diamond G and Gant Original. It will use the entire software suite including mobile apps, across all of its departments to improve product hit rate, shorten lead times and gain better margins.

"We are entering a stage of growth at Gant where we need to be more digital and intelligent about how we design and develop products towards our Gant consumer," says Carl Borg, global IT director for Gant. "We want to do this through improving our digital product development processes, and that is why we sought out a PLM solution."

Centric recently developed a field testing mobile app designed to help apparel and footwear companies track the usage and performance of prototypes and samples. The app, developed in Apple's iOS, works with Centric's PLM platform, or can be used as a stand-alone solution.
