Online clothing retailing: profiles of six companies (download) - Research (16th October 2009) Online clothing retailing is a well established sales channel in most developed countries. In 2008 clothing was the fastest growing category of products to be sold online in the UK and the USA. And in China and France it was the largest category in terms of value. UK: Tesco launches online clothing store - Article (5th October 2009) UK supermarket retailer Tesco has launched its first dedicated online fashion store for Tesco and branded clothing. Fashion Online - UK - August 2009 - Research (16th September 2009) Despite the economic downturn, the online fashion market continues to boom. Mintel forecasts it will reach £4.1 billion in 2009, up by 26% on 2008. Fashion retailers’ websites are now the favourite destination for online shopping, whereas in October 2008 and January 2009, books were the most popular category. INSIGHT: Inditex takes Zara online as H1 profit falls 8% - Article (16th September 2009) Clothing retail giant Inditex, owner of the Zara chain, posted first half net income of EUR375m (US$550m), down 8% on last year but still ahead of market expectations. INSIGHT: Walmart’s new website speeds online fashion race - Article (1st September 2009) Wal-Mart Stores Inc, the world's largest retailer, is to sell products from other retailers on its website as part of a new online mall called Walmart Marketplace. |
