Leading US women's fashion retailer Charming Shoppes, which operates 1,730 stores across the country, has launched a website to support its Catherines Plus Sizes stores. The informational site will gain full e-commerce capabilities in the future, and new sites are also being planned for the company's Fashion Bug, The Answer, Monsoon and Accessorize stores.

UK: Monsoon's Overseas Business Outshines UK Trade | 30 Jul 01

Women's and children's wear retailer Monsoon reported its results today, with its overseas business overshadowing 'challenging' UK trade. UK operating profits fell slightly on increased turnover of 11 per cent including a like-for-like sales increase of two per cent. International profits increased by 131 per cent to £1.435m following the expansion of overseas franchise operations. Like-for-like sales overseas were up 11 per cent and total in-store sales increased 36 per cent.

McNaughton Apparel Group Inc. Announces First Quarter Earnings Results The McNaughton Apparel Group Inc has announced its results for the first quarter ended February 3, 2001. Net sales for the first quarter increased 17.8 per cent to $103.3m, compared to $87.7m in the comparable fiscal 2000 quarter. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization increased 46.0 per cent to $14.1m, compared to $9.7m in the comparable fiscal 2000 quarter.

Charming Shoppes Inc, the retail apparel chain, today reported that total sales for the five weeks ended February 3, 2001 were $103.5m. The current period's total sales for five weeks include $28.1m in sales from the Catherines Stores Corporation. Total sales for the four weeks ended January 27, 2001 increased ten per cent to $81m from $73.6m for the four-week period ended January 29, 2000. The current period's total sales for four weeks include $22m in sales from the Catherines Stores Corporation.
