USA: Designs Inc Promotes Executive, Changes Name just-style.com | 22 May 02

Retail brand operator of Levi's Outlet by Designs and Dockers Outlet by Designs, Designs Inc, has promoted Ronald Batts to president of the Levi's and Dockers Outlet Stores. Leading apparel manufacturer Haggar Corp on Wednesday posted a 19 per cent rise in second quarter sales and doubled its net income for the quarter compared to the year-ago period. The Dallas-based company, which makes men's casual and dress apparel and women's sportswear, said net sales for the 13 weeks to March 31, 2002 were $138 million versus $115.7m in the same period last year.

Haggar Corp announced third quarter and nine months results for the period ending June 30, 2001. For the third quarter of fiscal 2001, Haggar reported net sales of $108,151,000 which is a six per cent increase in net sales, and net income of $1,028,000, or $0.15 on a per share basis. This compares to the third quarter of 2000, in which the company reported $102,053,000 in net sales and net income of $1,423,000, or $0.21 on a per share basis.

Bebe Stores Inc Announces Third Quarter Earnings Of $0.17 Per Share Designer, developer and producer of women's apparel, Bebe Stores Inc, has announced its financial results for the third quarter of fiscal 2001 ended March 31, 2001. Net sales for the third quarter reached $66.2m, a 25.1 per cent increase from the $52.9m reported for the third quarter a year ago. U.S. apparel contractors have become very resourceful in their diversification beyond the cut-make-trim business. It's been a necessary evolution in their uphill battle to stay in the game in the face of abandonment by many of their traditional customers. There's no way to sugarcoat the facts. The U.S. apparel contracting industry was forced to swallow a bitter pill when NAFTA went into effect on Jan. 1, 1994.
