British Heritage Brand Belstaff Gets Future Ready with WFX PLM

British fashion brand Belstaff has successfully implemented World Fashion Exchange’s Cloud PLM solution to digitally transform their fashion supply chain. WFX PLM will enable the company to connect and consolidate information across disparate sources into a centralized, modern, user-friendly system.

Founded in 1924, Belstaff is an icon of British heritage, crafting clothing that is both fashionable and functional. The company employs over 250 people at its offices in London and is hiring more staff for its core and retail teams—bringing in an operating revenue of approximately £40 million. A century old brand, Belstaff’s most famous product, the waxed cotton biker jacket has been worn by icons like the revolutionary Che Guevera, pioneer Amy Johnson, actor Steve McQueen and most recently, footballer David Beckham.

While Belstaff’s attention to detail and dedication to quality is unmatched, the fashion industry’s rapid shift toward digitalization made them realize that they needed a new system to keep up. To make this move happen, they turned to WFX. WFX is known for its extensive experience in the fashion industry, having worked with some of the most prominent global brands.

The implementation of WFX PLM was done in tandem with the deployment of NetSuite at Belstaff. This was a unique implementation process as Belstaff was not just deploying two major digital tools, but the company was also migrating its core teams back to the UK at the same time. The goal was to designate WFX PLM as the product expert for the entire business and set it up such that WFX feeds any information into NetSuite that it needs for transactions.

WFX worked closely with the Belstaff team to understand how their existing systems worked and where the opportunities for improvement could be. Based on this assessment, a roadmap for implementation was designed in a way that allowed Belstaff to replace all their old processes and workarounds with new processes that make the maximum use of WFX’s functionalities.

Now, all Belstaff’s product specifications, care labelling data, tech packs, cost sheets, and their supplier interactions (including approvals and QC) can be managed through WFX. In addition, any information required by other systems can also be passed on from WFX thanks to custom integrations ensuring seamless operations.

With this, Belstaff has now completely re-engineered their design and development processes – making the business ready for future growth and modern trading. The digital transformation will enable Belstaff to centralize operations, access information anytime/anywhere, automate many manual tasks, and become more efficient. Thanks to smart personalization and end-to-end digitalization of all systems, the Belstaff team can now easily visualize products as they go through their lifecycles and ensure the highest quality standards throughout development.
