Notably, Sales and Related Occupations jobs accounted for a 12% share of the British’s apparel industry new job postings in Q1 2023, down by 39% over the prior quarter.
Sales and Related Occupations drive apparel hiring activity
Of the industry's total hiring activity, the highest number of new job postings were for Sales and Related Occupations, which accounted for 12% of the total new job postings in Q1 2023 and were down by 74% year-on-year. Second highest were Management Occupations, which accounted for 8% and rise by 2% year-on-year, and third highest were Production Occupations, which were 64% of the new job postings and 143% higher year-on-year.
Top five companies in apparel accounted for 83% of hiring activity
The highest number of jobs were posted by Tesco with 18,253, followed by J Sainsbury with 7,019, while the highest increase was at Wm Morrison Supermarkets at 9%.
