Far Eastern customs officials have seized 300,000 pairs of fake adidas, Nike, Puma and Reebok sports shoes in the port town of Nakhodka in eastern Russia.

Three Moscow-based firms attempted to import the counterfeit products - worth an estimated RUB100 million - RUB250m into Russia from South Korea. Administrative law action is now being implemented against the operation.

The customs officials have consulted with the three companies with a proposal to donate the shoes to orphanages and sports schools in the US, with a decision yet to be confirmed.
