466664, the clothing line inspired by Nelson Mandela's prisoner number, has confirmed that the range will launch in a number of independent stores in South Africa later this month.

The company said last Friday (19 August), that the line, which is being manufactured by South Africa's largest clothing and textile manufacturer Seardel, will support the activities of 46664.

46664 is a charity which supports HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention and other aspects of Mandela's humanitarian legacy, including confronting issues of social injustice.

"When you buy a 46664 shirt, you are not just buying apparel. You are investing in a process that will help spread the legacy of Nelson Mandela by supporting the long-term sustainability of 46664. You are also helping to positively stimulate the local clothing and textile manufacturing industry," said 46664 board member Achmat Dangor.

The first items to be sold will include traditional seshoeshoe print men's shirts, as well as ladies blouses and dresses as well as men's chinos.

The line will be launched through Stuttafords stores in Namibia and Botswana. The company plans to widen its distribution globally in 2012.
