The president of the American Apparel & Footwear Association, Larry Martin, has announced that he is to retire from his post from July 2001.

Martin has been with the organisation for more than ten years. He started as the director of government relations before being promoted to president in 1994.

It was while Martin was serving as president that the American Apparel Manufacturers Association merged with the Footwear Industries of America and the Fashion Association to create the AAFA.

Executives at the AAFA have announced that they are currently looking for a replacement but have given no clues to who it might be.
