The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) has updated its global Restricted Substances List (RSL), covering chemicals and other substances whose use in home textiles, apparel and footwear is carefully monitored.

AAFA first published the list in the summer of 2007, and updates it every six months to include the latest government regulation or law controlling the use of the substances.

"This RSL serves as a vital instrument for our industry to help them meet critical compliance needs relating to the environment, sustainability and product safety," said Kevin Burke, AAFA president and CEO.

Future editions will include new enhancements, such as Spanish and Chinese translations, and the inclusion of state regulations and laws.

The free list, together with a growing set of other chemical management tools, can be downloaded at the AAFA website.
