Teen apparel retailer Abercrombie & Fitch is rumoured to be planning to open its first store in Ireland in the autumn.

The company has applied for planning permission to renovate the former Habitat building on College Green in Dublin city centre, according to reports in newspaper The Irish Independent. The company already operates a Hollister store in Dundrum Town Centre.

In February, the retailer reported a much reduced fourth-quarter net profit, impacted by rising costs and higher levels of markdowns in its stores. Net income reached US$19.6m during the quarter, down from $92.6m.
