The first Abercrombie & Fitch store in Mexico will open next year

US teen apparel retailer Abercrombie & Fitch is to open its first stores in Mexico next year as part of a franchise agreement with Grupo AXO.

The franchise arrangement, which the company says is the first in its history, will encompass both the Abercrombie & Fitch and Hollister brands. The first Hollister store will open in late spring 2015, while the first Abercrombie & Fitch store is due to open in late summer 2015.

Abercrombie & Fitch anticipates a continuing rollout that will include stores in cities such as Mexico City, Guadalajara, Cancun and Playa Del Carmen.

"This partnership is an important step for our company," said Gillian Ferguson, group vice president of strategic planning for Abercrombie & Fitch.
