ACIMIT (the Association of Italian textile machinery manufacturers) will for the first time attend trade show CINTE Shanghai, supporting Italian textile machinery manufacturers and technical textile producers exhibiting there.

The sector of technical and innovative textiles is gaining increasing importance in terms of size, ACiMIT said, thanks to the technological features of its products and to its continuous offer of new and promising market niches.

Subsequently, Italian textile machinery manufacturers are followng the development of this sector with keen attention. ACIMIT estimates that more than 100 of its member companies operate in the manufacture of specially designed or modified machines for the production of innovative technical textiles and nonwovens.

This sector produces a though minimal but steadily growing turnover, accounting for 5% to 10% on the total turnover of ACIMIT's member companies.

China is presently the leading market for the Italian textile machinery industry, with a share of 17% on the total Italian export. In 2005, Italian exports to the Chinese market reached a value of Euro316m (US$399.77), while in the first three months of 2006, Italian sales in China increased of 19% on the same period of 2005.
