Indian conglomerate Aditya Birla Nuvo has booked a double-digit increase in second-quarter net profit, helped by continued growth at its fashion and lifestyle business.

Net profit reached INR4.52bn for the three months to 30 September, compared to INR2.9bn in the same period of the prior year. Revenue increased 2% to INR65.97bn from INR64.92bn last year.

The company's fashion and lifestyle business saw revenue grow 17% to INR18.92bn. EBITDA is up by 52% to INR2.36bn led by revenue growth and margin expansion across all the three formats - Madura, Pantaloons and Jaya Shree.

Madura's revenue increase 25% to INR10.51bn, driven by double-digit volume growth. Pantaloons posted revenue growth of 14% to reach INR5.54bn, driven by an 8.9% increase in like-to-like sales.

Jaya Shree saw revenues rise 13% to INR3.51bn, helped by improved realisation and expansion-led volume growth in the linen segment.

During the quarter, Aditya Birla Nuvo's fashion and lifestyle business opened 108 stores in India, taking its total count to 1,852.
