Teen fashion retailer Aeropostale Inc is to expand in South East Asia after inking a licensing agreement with Montreal Pte Ltd, a joint venture between Apparel Group LLC and Jay Gee Melwani Group.

The first store is scheduled to open in Singapore later this year, and around 25 stores across Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia are planned over the next five years.

“The Aeropostale brand is evolving into a powerful global brand, and we are excited to continue our international expansion,” said CEO Thomas Johnson.

The retailer has already worked with Apparel Group to launch its stores in the Gulf regions, where the first shop opened in July two years ago this month.

Apparel Group also operates stores for Aldo Shoes, Kenneth Cole, La Senza, Mango, Nine West and Tommy Hilfiger, while Jay Gee Melwani Group also markets leading international apparel names.
