Experts at a German motorcycle outfitter have come up with a wearable device that could save bikers from death and serious injury in road accidents - an "airbag jacket".

The high-tech jacket comprises a four-part air chamber which will inflate in an accident to protect the neck, breast bone, collarbone, ribs and spine.

The prototype garment has been developed by Louis GmbH but it is not yet known when the jacket will be developed for commercial sale.
