Ladies' wear retailer Alexon says it expects operating profits to be up by at least 7 per cent in the year the year to January 31, despite disappointing pre-Christmas sales.

Alexon, whose brands include Dash and Kaliko, said in a statement this week that operating profits before interest and goodwill should be at least £32.4 million pounds for the year.

It added that although like-for-like sales fell 1 per cent in the six weeks to January 3, its winter sale had got off to a good start.
