The British Fashion Council (BFC) has tapped model and writer Laura Bailey to support British fashion designers in the newly created role of cultural ambassador.

Bailey is the first in a number of young ambassadors who will be revealed prior to London fashion week in September. Their role will be to support the BFC as it promotes British fashion design talent to a global market.

Bailey will attend key fashion events including London Fashion Week, the British Fashion Awards and London Show Rooms, as well as meeting with designers to talk about the challenges they face.

"As a model, writer and fashion icon Laura has an in-depth knowledge of the British fashion and film industry that we hope will provide our designers with increased media exposure and strong links with the other creative industries," said British Fashion Council CEO, Caroline Rush.

"The most exciting thing about these newly created ambassadorial roles is that they will grow organically into a unique role that best utilises each ambassador's expertise, contacts and interests," she adds.
