American Eagle Outfitters is expanding its Aerie line with a new range of fitness and workout wear designed for 15- to 25-year-old girls.

Aerie f.i.t (fun, inspirational, technical) is available from today (23 October) in the 20 standalone Aerie stores across the US and online. Twenty-five American Eagle stores with Aerie shops will also carry the full collection.

The line includes a variety of exercise clothing and accessories including pants, leggings, shorts, sports bras, Ts, tanks, hoodies, wind stoppers, vests, caps and headbands.

High functionality is a key feature, with details including sweat free fabric, hidden money pockets, reflective piping and special flat-seam construction.

The Aerie by American Eagle concept launched in late 2006 with intimates and Dormwear collections. Personal care products are also due to be rolled out over the holiday period.

40 standalone stores are targeted by the end of this year, with plans for 50 to 60 more in 2008.
