Taiwan-based shoe maker Apache Footwear plans to establish a new production facility in India, according to media reports.

The facility, which would be based in Sriperumbudur, near Chennai, would cost about INR270 crore.

According to industry sources, Apache is in discussions with the Tamil Nadu government to set up the facility as a special economic zone.
The 250-acre site would contain Apache's footwear manufacturing unit plus units of component makers.

Apache makes shoes for companies including sportswear giant Adidas.
