Following official accreditation into the African Growth and Opportunity Act on October 25th, Uganda will shortly start exporting to the US duty free.

The first Ugandan textiles companies to benefit are Phenix Logistics Ltd and Southern Range Nyanza textiles.

At the Annual Textile and Apparel Trade and Transportation Conference in New York, which was attended by US textiles and apparel exporters, Third Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs James Wapakhabulo said that the country would be able to significantly increase cotton production as a result over the next few years.
