Apparel exports from the Dominican Republic to the United States fell to US$1.79 billion for the first 10 months of 2003, down from US$1.8bn in the same period a year earlier.

Exports of synthetic brassieres fell to US$110.3m from US$135.1m for the period, while female cotton trouser exports slipped to US$122.1m from US$147.18m for the 10 months.

Synthetic night clothes were also down on export, falling to US$261.4m from US$223.7 for January to October.

Cotton underwear exports, meanwhile, rose to US$261.4m from US$223.7m.
