Archetype, a leading provider of mass customisation technology and services for the worldwide apparel industry, announced on Tuesday it had closed a $6.25 million Series B round of financing.

The round was led by Carlyle Venture Partners with participation from strategic investors, Series A investors, and new individual investors. This follows a $1.5m Series A round of financing that closed in 2000.

"This investment builds on the success of the last nine months and ensures the resources are in place for the growth of our business with existing and new customers," said Robert Holloway, Archetype's chief executive officer.

"In this difficult environment this represents a major endorsement of our technology and management team."

Archetype spent 18 months designing its proprietary sizing and body prediction software, with the technology used by several top retailers including Lands' End.
