Sales at Apranga Group, the Baltic States' largest fashion retailer, have fallen by 22.6% year-on-year in the first nine months of this year, with declines seen in all the markets where it operates.

From January to September, retail turnover totalled LTL290.7m (US$123m), with sales down by 21.9% in Lithuania, 29.3% in Latvia, and 10.1% in Estonia.

In the month of September, sales fell 36.5% compared with the same month last year.

The retailer, which operates 115 stores, blamed the poor economic climate in the Baltic States, higher VAT rates in Lithuania, and store closures.
