Apranga Group, which operates retail chains in the Baltic States, has announced the opening of its first Mango and Mexx franchise stores in Estonia today (28 August).

The two stores will open in Tartu, with the Mango store having an area of 300 square metres and the Mexx an area of 300 square metres.

Both will open in the new Tasku shopping centre and be Apranga's first stores outside the Estonian capital Tallinn.

Apranga has been running a franchise Mango store chain in Lithuania since 2000, with a Mexx store chain in Lithuania since 2004 and Latvia since 2006.

Apranga said it wants to "focus more on the development in the Estonian market, consolidate its positions in all segments and increase its market share", and plans developments in Tallinn, Tartu, Pärnu and Narva.

Lithuania-based Apranga currently operates a chain of 91 stores in the Baltic States, with 60 in Lithuania, 24 in Latvia, and seven in Estonia.

Its turnover during the first seven months of the year was up 25% to LTL273.5m (EUR79.2m).
