Uniform manufacturer and distributor Armitec Inc announced on Monday it has completed the acquisition of sweater firm Pocono Knits Inc trading as "Commando By Jack Young".

In a news release, the Atalanta-based company said it is "delighted with the synergies created in sales and the savings in marketing expenses that will flow from the blending of these two companies".

Jack Young Associates, which will operate as wholly owned subsidiary, makes over 90 per cent of US military sweater as well as sweaters for the police, fire and postal services.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed but Armitec said it expects revenues from Jack Young Associates to contribute about $4.5 million to the total revenues of $8m for calendar year 2002.

"Other acquisition/mergers are under consideration and will be given strong consideration provided they fit into our existing operational mode," said Bruce Davis, president and CEO of Armitec.
