Protective wear maker Armor Holdings has received a contract modification from the Defense Supply Center-Philadelphia to supply extra quantities of its Outer Tactical Vests to a total of about $18.8 million.

The vests, which carry ballistic protective plates, will be supplied to various US military customers.

Armor president Robert Schiller said: "This work takes advantage of our recent increase in capacity for soft goods manufacturing and leverages our newly acquired operations in Alabama and our recently expanded capacity in Tennessee."

Armor recently reported a third-quarter profit rise to $26.5 million on a 74 per cent hike in revenue, and predicted higher- than-expected full-year sales.
