Clothing and textiles forum the Association of Suppliers to the British Clothing Industry (ASBCI) has teamed up with technical specialists from the retail, testing, colour and fastening sectors to produce a new technical handbook on fastening solutions

The handbook, entitled 'Joining Forces', claims to be the only comprehensive and commercially impartial guide to fasteners available in the clothing industry. 

It is aimed at providing buyers, designers, garment technologists, colourists, machinists, after-care specialists, apparel students and garment make-up personnel with a definitive, reader-friendly guide to the enormous range of fastening variations available. 

The book details correct applications, best practice garment assembly, common pitfalls and misuses in addition to advice on care labelling and cleaning.  It draws on the collaborative design and technical expertise of Adams Childrenswear, Coats, e.Warna.com , Intertek Labtest-Fastech International Leicester, NEXT retail, Scovill Fasteners Europe SA, Slik Fasteners J & . Stern, Tesco Stores and YKK.

The book also contains product descriptions and advice on over 60 fastening solutions including buttons, zip and slide fasteners, press fasteners, touch and close fasteners, sew-on hook and eyes, hook and bars, cord and ribbons, adjustable metal or plastic buckles and slide adjusters, cord stoppers and cord ends.
