Japanese sportswear maker Asics Corp says it will sell its lines in 300 sales outlets in China by the end of 2008, according to a report in Japanese News Digest.

Asics says it will establish a new Hong Kong-based company this year that will oversee Chinese sales. The new company will set up a sales network in mainland China next year, Asics said.

Asics will then establish a new company in Shanghai in eastern China during the start of 2006. The Shanghai company will provide sports clothing and footwear to Chinese Guangzhou Pou Xue Trading Co Ltd, a marketer of the company's goods.

Alongside this, the company will work on growing its sales network in China's coastal cities.

Asics is striving to boost its competitive edge against international sportswear giants such as Nike, Adidas and Reebok.
