Fashion site Asos and the online operations of footwear firm Clarks both received accolades at the e-Commerce Awards for Excellence 2009.

Asos swept the board at last night's (20 October) ceremony in London's West End. It won four awards including the OnLine Gold Award (OLGA) voted by the Members of IMRG (Interactive Media In Retail Group).

David Smith, director of operations at IMRG said "The UK e-commerce industry in 2009 will top GBP50bn in sales, so it is fitting that we should come together to celebrate and recognise those companies who are making outstanding contributions to the market.

"It is no surprise given the industry we are in that there was a very long tail of e-commerce sites voted for by the IMRG membership. Given their performance elsewhere in the Awards, Asos are worthy winners of this year's OLGA."

Clarks won Best Multi-Channel Retailer, while Asos also won Best Pureplay Retailer, User Generated Content Innovation and Best Customer Experience.
