Tailored clothing maker Bagir Ltd has introduced what is thought to be the world's first wool blend, machine washable and tumble dryable men's tailored suit, which will be sold exclusively at Marks & Spencer.

The new Wash & Tumble suit incorporates crease resistance and recovery features in addition to a stretchable waistband for added comfort and Aeromotion meshed shoulder technology for improved breathablility and ventilation.

It also, of course, alters the direction of traditional tailored clothes by eliminating expensive dry cleaning, making it environmentally friendly, time saving and economical.

The product line, which has a recommended price of GBP129 (US$225), has been globally patented by Bagir.

The suit will be available in a wide range of sizes and styles. Jackets range from 36-50" (short, medium, long), trousers 30-44" waist and 29-33" inside leg - and all are available in charcoal, navy and black (plain, pinstripe and box check) single breast and double breast.

In tests, suits of various wool blends underwent 30 washes and 30 tumble dry cycles with Bagir technicians assessing the results after every five cycles. When compared to dry-cleaning similar suits in the same fabric thirty times, Bagir said the new suits showed either identical or better results.

The Wash & Tumble suit collection follows Bagir's machine washable and drip-dry version introduced in 2003.

The company has also developed a shell-shaped suit carrier, made to protect the suit while travelling.
