Baird Corporatewear is to provide a new online wardrobe management service to its customers in an attempt to gain a competitive edge in the highly corporate clothing and workwear market.

The service will run through its industry-specific, fully integrated business-to-business e-commerce portal, and makes us of the WearforWork.com wardrobe management solution from Datel.

Part of the Baird Brands division of William Baird Plc, Baird Corporatewear will be able to provide customers with a range of online facilities. These include ordering, management of staff entitlements, order tracking, account enquiries, online catalogues and reporting tools. WearforWork.com will also allow the company to offer a customised service to groups of users or individual users from the design of the site to setting size charts.

The career and workwear market is a fiercely competitive one, and places great demands on suppliers in terms of service, deliveries and management requirements. WearforWork.com is a software rental site that Datel (a specialist in business solutions for the apparel and footwear sector), has developed to enhance the relationship between suppliers and their customers.

A facility is provided for a buyer, supervisor or wearer to log onto WearforWork.com and order clothing, check progress, review entitlement, amend sizing etc. Each facility can be defined according to the user. For example, once logged in, an individual employee can only access his or her sizing details, entitlement information and re-order; while the human resource manager may be able to view most facilities, such as look up and change entitlements if a wearer has been promoted. Reporting facilities enable customers to analyse the usage of certain clothing items and check account details.

Once an order has been placed, it can be transferred online to the suppliers' system where it is processed.

Geoff Neal, financial director of Baird Corporatewear, comments: "We are delighted to have moved forward into the e-arena. Our mission is to provide the best customer service offering in the corporate managed agent sector."
