Textile machinery maker Benninger AG has bought its German rival Küsters Textile GmbH in a move that will make it one of the world's largest suppliers of wet finishing plants for the textile industry.

The acquisition also expands Benninger's international foothold since Küsters has subsidiaries in Hong Kong and China.

Küsters, which has around 180 employees, specialises in dyeing equipment and achieved a turnover of around EUR22m (US$32.4m) in 2006, will be integrated in the manufacturing network of the Benninger Group.
