Berjaya Retail, a subsidiary of Berjaya Group, is planning to increase the availability of Italian brands Motivi and Caractere and the French Oxbow brand in Malaysia over the next two years.

Berjaya will open new stores on the market to up its competitive edge against rivals such as Zara, Emporio Armani and Quiksilver.

In addition, the company will launch an aggressive advertising push in an attempt to transform the brands into household names in Malaysia.

Berjaya Retail was set up in April 2005 as a marketer and distributor of branded ladies' and men's wear and accessories.

The subsidiary's general manager Edwin Saw was reporting as saying that the company wants to launch two new global brands next year.
