Fashion designer Betsey Johnson might put her namesake company on the market as she explores strategic alternatives, the New York Post reported.

Johnson and business partner Chantal Bacon have held talks with investment bankers over a possible sale of part or all of the business, which they founded almost three decades ago, the Post reported unnamed sources as saying.

The sources said talks were preliminary and no definitive decisions had yet been made.

The business has recently raked in revenues of about US$100m - double of what it was a few years ago - by adding eight new licenses.
