• Q1 adjusted net loss US$0.5m, versus $0.3m
  • Sales up 7% to $54.5m
  • Spring apparel launch helps revenues

Outdoor equipment and apparel business Black Diamond saw its first quarter revenues boosted by a successful retail launch of its spring apparel range.

The US company posted a slightly bigger adjusted net loss in the three months to 31 March, but gross margin was up 70 basis points to 38.4%.

President and CEO Peter Metcalf said the sales improvement had come despite “extreme dry weather conditions” in some parts of the world.

He added: “The majority of our spring 2014 apparel line was shipped in the first quarter.

“Sell-through is both on track with our internal plan and based upon selected retailer response, the line is trending ahead of our fall 2014 launch.”
