Leading US boxing and sports equipment manufacturer Everlast Worldwide Inc has signed a licensing agreement with German-based company Punch GmbH to distribute its products throughout Europe.

Punch will serve as the Everlast licensee of boxing equipment as well as products used for exercising, aerobics, weightlifting, and the martial arts, among other sports.

The Everlast line produced by Punch will be distributed throughout Europe and sold through sporting goods outlets and department stores.

Commenting on the deal, George Q Horowitz, chairman and CEO of Everlast Worldwide, said, "This agreement with Punch marks the 13th licensing deal that we have signed since last October, which is when we acquired Everlast.

"Shortly after concluding the acquisition, we outlined our strategy to expand internationally and make Everlast a truly global brand. Our new relationship with Punch is an enormous step in that direction and enhances our position in the European markets."

Punch chief executive, Geurt Schotsman, added: "Everlast is truly one of the most respected and important brands in sports today. Given its rich history, Everlast is a brand that enjoys a high degree of consumer awareness. We believe the launch of our Everlast items will generate great excitement among consumers throughout Europe."
