Brown Shoe Company has introduced the Naya women’s footwear range, designed to tap into the growing consumer appetite for “green” products.

Naya, which comes in 11 styles priced from US$110-130, uses chrome-free or vegetable-tanned leathers, natural, organic or sustainable fabrics and outsoles made with recycled materials.

Shoeboxes are made from recycled paper, using water-soluble glue and soy-based ink, and store displays are constructed from renewable bamboo.

“From talking to consumers we know that, now more than ever, people are making purchasing decisions, including fashion and footwear, to enhance their well-being and the well-being of our planet,” said Brown Shoe president and COO Diane Sullivan.

“Naya was created as a feminine footwear collection with premium comfort features, and including eco-conscious design elements enables women to feel as good about buying them as they do about wearing them.”

Naya is available from various retailers and websites in the US, and in 11 other countries including China, Japan and Australia.
