Burberry's chief executive Rose Marie Bravo has been named joint first in The Wall Street Journal Europe's ranking of most successful women in European business.

Credited with revolutionising the Burberry brand and helping the company to a 30 per cent rise in sales, Ms Bravo shares the coveted top spot with Sari Baldauf, president of Nokia Networks.

World-famous Scotland-based knitwear firm Pringle's chief executive Kim Winser was named in 10th place.
