Apparel retailer Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse Corporation has selected ProfitLogic's Markdown Optimization solution for use at its 360 stores throughout the US.

ProfitLogic's solution will help Burlington Coat Factory gain greater visibility into customer demand for improved in-season inventory management decisions and enable it to to better cater to local market needs by transitioning from chain to regional pricing.

The goal is to allow merchants to buy newer or more in-demand items more quickly to better meet customer needs.

Mark Nesci, chief operating officer of Burlington Coat Factory, said that the solution "represents a significant potential gross margin opportunity" and and will give the company the ability to regionalise merchandise decisions "with a sophisticated, analytic approach to in-season inventory management"
