European fashion retailer C&A is stepping into China with plans to open four stores in Shanghai this spring.

"Our vision for China is to bring the latest in global fashion to increasingly affluent urban consumers, fashion-conscious young women and men," Sandra Dembeck, business development director of C&A China, told China Daily.
C&A established a wholly owned subsidiary in Shanghai in 2005 as the springboard for its retail expansion.

With its four stores in Grand Gateway, Super Brand Mall, DaNing-LifeHub and Shanghai Wanda Shopping Mall, C&A will be the first international fashion retailer operating in these high-traffic shopping locations.

Netherlands-based C&A will have more than 1,400 stores in 20 countries by the end of this year.
