Specialty retailer of women’s apparel Cache Inc on Wednesday reported a 14 per cent year-on-year climb in September same-store sales which it attributed to the success of "regular price assortments".

The operator of 227 stores said total sales for the five weeks to September 28 rose 18 per cent to $18.3 million from $15.5m in the year-ago period, while third quarter sales climbed 11 per cent to $41.9m and same-store sales seven per cent.

Cache chairman Brian Woolf commented: "We were pleased with our comparable store sales increase of 14 per cent in September and seven per cent for the third quarter.

"We were particularly pleased with our results, as they were primarily driven by our regular price assortments and anticipate reporting improved third quarter results on or about October 16, 2002."
