The rise of make-up-totting metrosexual gents in Japan is keeping the apparel industry on its toes as it tries to keep up with a generation of young men seeking a tight-fitting slim look, just like their female partners.

Some men are even starting to wear their girlfriend's blouses and jeans to work.

Males between the ages of 18 and 30 constitute the slimmest segment of the population in the country, while the ideal fashion weight as decreed by the apparel industry is a skinny 57 kilograms for a height of 175 centimetres.

Designers have tuned into this trend, accentuating the ultra slim look with long sleeved T-shirts and tummy-show jeans.
