Carter's, the young children's apparel brand, has launched a range of flame-resistant cotton sleepwear. The company's new sleepwear line uses PROBAN treated cotton fabric to provide flame-resistant qualities while maintaining the soft, moisture absorbent qualities of cotton. The flame resistant qualities are built into the fibre itself and are durable for the life of the garment, the company said.

Available in spring 2001, the range comes in soft cotton two-piece styles in a variety of colours and patterns. The pajamas will be in department stores and specialty stores throughout the US beginning in January.

Fred Rowan, chairman and chief executive officer of Carter's, said: "Carter's has long been known for making safe, flame-resistant sleepwear. We waited years to introduce flame-resistant cotton sleepwear because we wanted to develop a product that was safe, comfortable and affordable.
