A new trade show dedicated to cashmere is being launched in Beijing later this year.

The event, called 'Cashmere World,' will span the entire cashmere supply chain, covering every stage from raw material, manufacturing technology and standards to finished products and fashion.

"There is no other dedicated cashmere event anywhere in the world," explains Michael Duck, senior vice president of UBM Asia, which is organising the show with the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce & Animal By-Products (CCCFNA).

"With 95% of the world's pure cashmere raw material supply and 70% of the cashmere finished products originating from China, the country is in an indisputably eminent position to play host to a global event for this specialised industry."

The organisers say Cashmere World will provide an international meeting place for the cashmere industry.

It will showcase the qualities that make cashmere stand out from other materials, introduce and lead international cashmere fashion trends, and promote the elegance of cashmere products.

Cashmere World 2010 will take place from 23-25 November at the China National Convention Centre in Beijing.
